GoByBike to GREEN DRINKS
GREEN DRINKS is tonight (Thursday, Sept 26) 5-7pm at SSI Wild Cider on Sharp Road. I’m leading the discussion tonight, which was proposed by my pal Anna Ford: “Thinking like an Island.” What bright, sustainable or even regenerative future can you envision here on Salt Spring Island? We can discuss unique Island solutions and opportunities for environmental leadership — from sharing economies to rare species conservation. Come join me and others to brainstorm the next few Green Drinks topics and special guest ideas for the future.
Green Drinks is an international movement of eco-minded professionals and enthusiasts getting together for drinks and conversation and it’s been happening here, almost monthly, on SSI for about 14 years now. There are nearly 500 chapters world-wide.
Actually, Green Drinks is part of why I live here… Each bike tour we took to Salt Spring, about 13 years ago and 10 years ago, happened to fall on the fourth Thursday of the month. That Green Drinks sandwich board was up inviting everyone to a group conversation. I went and enjoyed some of the most stimulating connections and discussions–one about a zero-waste Fall Fair–another about a harbourwalk along with native plant and pollinator gardens and intertidal marine signage… Anyways, I knew I’d found my people.
Special incentive! If you bike tonight, the first drink’s on us.
