Kids Bike Rally 2024!
Friday, June 7 from 4 to 6pm, over 130 people got together at the Lions Bike Park for a Kids Bike Rally! Teenagers leding an obstacle course, jump competitions, and skill-building circuits for the younger ones with lots of prizes and free bike tune-ups. Island Pathways Board Members hosted a free BBQ and distributed info about about safer cycling on Salt Spring. It was awesome!
Here are some highlights below, courtesy of Christopher Roy photography (link here to full photo collection of the event).
Natasha Kong and Michi Main took the lead on organizing the event, with help from Robin Jenkinson and Naomi Tweddle. Bob MacKie and Luke Campbell led the BBQ. Many others pitched in, too. We met so many families and had a great time.
A huge THANK YOU to all the kids and families who came out and made it such a fantastic event! We loved seeing all the kids zooming around on their bikes and enjoying the beautiful day.
Special shoutout to our incredible sponsors: Country Grocer SSI for providing us with gift cards for the food and OutSpokin Bike Shop for the awesome prizes that brought so many smiles!
One of the highlights of the day was having members of the GISS Mountain Bike Club attend and coach the younger riders. A big thank you to: Emerson Hayden for teaching some mountain biking skills, Nomi DeRoos for bike mechanics, Magnus Roy for mentoring the littles.
A final big thank you to all our Island Pathways volunteers, CRD for the last minute permit, Go By Bike BC Society for sponsoring, and Christopher Roy for the photos!
We couldn’t have done it without all of you!
