Satoca Bike
“Bikes have always been a passion of mine, first it was BMX and motorcross, then mountain biking. It’s been a lifelong sport and fashion. Never in a bike as an owner but always behind the scenes helping with events. A friends dad had a shop back in South Africa and while I was growing up we would spend a lot of time there.”
Mark and his family moved to Vernon in November, as part of an immigration pilot program. Communities looking for investments in certain sectors can support new businesses. For Vernon they specifically are looking at outdoor and tourism retail. Biking ticked all the boxes.
It was a 3 year process.
Arriving in the fall meant that Mark’s kids finished their term in S.A. and started school in Vernon. The decision to move was to offer the kids a community that they would be safe in.
“The kids are loving it, and the outdoor life. They are feeling more secure living in Canada.”
Why support GoByBike Week?
“GoByBike Week is a both a BC and a local event, and local events rely on the businesses to keep these events going.”
While Mark understands the value in supporting local events, he also wants to be a part of the community, to be recognized and accepted. As a new business owner he wants to let people know that Satoca is open for business selling Titan bikes.
“Titan racing is a south African brand. We are the importers for Titan and are looking at getting other retailers on board. We have a nice range of kids bikes and hard tails, with a full range coming for cross country 140-150 travel, e-bikes and travel bikes.”
We put our passion into practice.
Satoca -which derives from South Africa to Canada – is located at 4701 29ST.
Satoca will be on the bike parade route Friday June 2nd, starting at the Polson Art Market at 6:30pm.
