Well done so far!
Hi everyone,
I hope you’ve had fun cycling this past week!
So far Nanaimo cyclists have logged 22,295 kilometres, burned 668,850 calories and prevented 4,834 kgs of greenhouse gas emissions. Please give yourself a big pat on the back!
Just a reminder to log your kms to make sure you are entered for the Provincial prizes (trip to Portugal and Visa gift certificates). Even if you just log one trip, you will be entered 🙂
I also wanted to remind everyone that you can still participate in the Pedal to Places Challenge over the weekend. Don’t forget to send your list of code words to madeleine.koch@nanaimo.ca (that’s me) by the end of the day on Sunday Oct. 4. For each code word you collect, you will be entered into a prize draw (i.e. one code word gets you one entry, 19 code words gets you 19 entries). We have a grand prize of a $200 gift certificate to the bike shop of the winner’s choice, and lots of other great prizes donated by our awesome supporters!
I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has supported the Pedal to Places Challenge. This includes VIU Students Union, Hub City Cycles Coop, Rock City Cycles, Team Copenhagen, The Nanaimo Brain Injury Society, BC Ebike, and the City of Nanaimo Wellness Committee. It also includes everyone who has let me know about Place signs that have gone missing so we can replace them (and make sure that you get the code words for all the Places you visit). It’s our first year running this challenge, and with your help, we are learning lots for next time.
I wish you happy cycling this weekend. Stay tuned for prize announcements next week!
