In 2012, Christine and her husband relocated to Fort St. John from Prince Edward Island, embracing cycling not just as a mode of transportation but as a source of exercise and joy. Armed with her first bike from Pat Ferris bike shop, Christine navigated the deep snow, unveiling a newfound freedom and joy that transcended the mere act of commuting. With a growing family, cycling became a shared experience, with daily rides through scenic trails and occasional trips to town, each pedal stroke fostering unity and well-being.
For Christine, cycling isn’t merely a means to an end; it’s a wellspring of happiness. She finds solace in the local bike trails, relishing the embrace of nature that often goes unnoticed when driving a car. The family of six, with their youngest safely secured in a bike attachment, chooses cycling over walking, savoring the freedom and closeness it brings.
Christine’s journey took an exciting turn when she decided to participate in GoByBike Week three years ago. Motivated by the desire to hold herself accountable to use her bike more, Christine not only participated but emerged victorious, winning a bike accessory in her first year. Encouraged by the experience, she continued participating, culminating in her recent triumph—winning the Grand Prize: a cycling adventure for two in Croatia, courtesy of Exodus Adventure Travels.
